I would like to encourage you to attend Memorial Day services today at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The guest speakers today are Senator Johnny Issacson, Congressman Tom Price and Georgia National Guard Brigadier General Maria Britt. Please take the time today to honor our fallen heroes. Ceremonies begin at 11:00 am, but guests are encouraged to be there by 10:00 am. You should also bring a chair, water and an umbrella. I know it's a fairly long drive to get there, but you won't be disappointed.
The Georgia National Cemetery opened for burials in 2006, and was formally dedicated on June 4 of that year. We are very lucky to have this truly beautiful national cemetery in Georgia.
Directions from I-575: Take exit 16, go left at the overpass and follow the signs to GA Highway 20. Turn left (west) on to GA Highway 20 for approximately six miles, cross the Knox Bridge and the cemetery entrance is on the right.
