Sometimes described as painting with wood, George North will explain all of the steps he follows to shape and combine different colored pieces of wood to create three-dimensional images.
George North handled this week's presentation. Intarsia was covered from beginning to the finishing. George always lets us know the mistakes he's made each step in the process and everyone appreciates his hints and humor. Several different brands of scroll saws were discussed and there pros and cons. Blade brands, tooth type and blade size were talked about in detail. Wood color and grain are most important to the final presentation and George stressed this point. Sanding the sometimes hundreds of small pieces and detailing all the edges was covered. Many jigs are invented just for holding and sanding these pieces. George showed us two. Using backers to raise parts was shown with several examples he brought. Last finishing and its impact on presentation was talked about. You covered all in an excellent and entertaining manner George. Many thanks!
