This week's class was "Band Saw Tune-Up and Safety", presented by Ted Riggs, a long-term member, the host of our turning special interest group, and a past president. Ted thoroughly covered the construction and adjustments of a 14" band saw, typical of what would be found in most home shops. We learned how to choose replacement tires, make shop-made guide blocks, and select a blade suited to the work. Ted explained the advantages of riser blocks and quick tension releases and went on to demonstrate how to quickly achieve a precision adjustment of blade tracking, the table, guide bearings and blocks. All of this was done without the need for any measurement tools.

Thanks Ted, for another humorous and enlightening presentation.  Click HERE for pictures from this class.
