If you're a member of GWA, you've probably seen some of Mickey Hudspeth's chip carving. His work is simply stunning and has won several awards. For those of you not familiar with the art, chip carving is a form of relief carving in which the carver removes precise chips from the surface of the wood with a small extremely sharp knife. In this class, Mickey will demonstrate what chip carving is, the safety issues involved and demonstrate various types of cuts including cutting triangles, canoe shaped chips, rosettes and drawing and carving freehand. A must for those who have never seen this class and a real treat for those who have!
