If you are a woodworker, but have never done a lot of carving, then this class is for you! Robert Johnson and Jerry Johnson (both members of the Atlanta Woodcarvers Club) will present a foundation class explaining the different types of carving (e.g. relief carving; in-the-round sculpting; caricature carving; carving with power tools, palm gouges, long gouges and mallet; carving only with a knife; woodburning; finishing a carving with paints; etc). As they discuss the different types of carving, they will describe the different tools needed and explain where you can buy those tools. Robert and Jerry will also be showing the projects they carved which won awards at the 2008 Georgia National Fair. If you want to learn more about the subject, they can direct you to local clubs, internet sites, magazines, etc.
