Contact Jack Morse
Our Turners SIG Chairman Jack Morse (Artistic-Turnings.com) did the class presentation this week. He named this "Turning 101". We had a large crowd and all eyes and ears perked up as Jack called upon two non-turners to come forward. One at a time these "students" were introduced to Mr. Skew. A large part of the presentation was on the proper sharpening, stance and holding needed to correctly use this tool. Jack demonstrated the 'ABC' method which stands for Anchor (anchor the tool on the tool rest), Bevel (contact the bevel of the tool to the work piece) and Cut (start the cut using the 'sharp' of the skew). One at a time both "students", Jimmy and Lou, quickly got comfortable with the cutting as Jack went on with other parts of his program. This was a good lesson as most our turners tend to choose the skew last. Finishing up Grace and Jack turned a small bowl.
Thanks Jack for another fine program. Click
