David Graves gave a fantastic presentation on Shaker oval Boxes. David attended the John Wilson School a few years ago and recommends it highly. Info is at www.shakerovalbox.com . All supplies can be purchased there.

As our members assembled before class there was a copper water box on an electric heater. This wasn't a steam box and Dave explained this only requires the wood to soak in hot water.

Dave explained the top and bottom are quarter sawn to keep movement minimal. All box sizes are in a number size. Our Demo was assembling a No.6 Box. The pattern to cut the swallowtails and drill the tack holes was passed around and Dave then cut and drilled one for us. We all were waiting for the wood to come out of the hot water and be bent and tacked. Dave made it look all too easy, but I think there's a lot of practice behind those quick moves. A very informative, interesting and I must say professional presentation Dave. Thank you we all enjoyed this very much.
