Jim Myrick will facilitate this hands-on session on the basics of holding the wood on the lathe between centers and safe use of a scroll chuck including when and how to use compression and expansion. Alternative methods of chucking will be explored such as faceplates, screw chuck, friction and jam chucks, donut chucks, Cole jaws, use of glue blocks or Vacuum chucking.
