Today Butch Davis presented his version of a Maloof Rocker. Butch's prototype version was used for the demo. An example of the five-piece seat was shown for the dowels and three degree cuts. This was also used to show how the joints are formed for the legs.
Bandsawing the front and rear legs was discussed in detail. Forming the arms and arm joints came next. The crest rail and slats covered the chair parts. Last a form to glue the rocker laminations was shown and we talked about how to shape and mount them to the legs. There were a lot of great questions and that was appreciated as it showed the interest of our group.
