This week Don Russell was our guest instructor. "Segmented Turned Ornaments" was the subject. Don is one of those experienced instructors who can talk and turn, so he had everyone spellbound. He talked about cutting the segments and gluing them into a cylinder. He also had examples to show for each step, which we all appreciated. We watched him hollow the inside and true the outside, bevel the ends to receive the beveled caps. The last steps were to turn the "Icicle' and then the top for the hanger. The time ran over but all stayed and most even stayed after to chat. I rate today's class "Excellent".
I would like to thank Karl Brohammer for attending today. Karl is the Director of the Advanced Wood Products Laboratory, Georgia Tech College of Architecture. He will be hosting our tour this December 02. It was wonderful that you came to meet our group and see our class. We all look forward to our tour of the Advanced Wood products Laboratory.
