A Message From the President

In the last newsletter that went out I stated that the club is at a crisis point and called for a membership meeting on July 26.  That meeting was pretty well attended (about 20 people), and the consensus was that everyone wanted the club to continue.  A committee was formed to explore what could be done to continue and grow the club.  I am hoping to receive some initial feedback at the next regular meeting.

Regardless of the committee’s findings, a few things are certain.  For the club to continue and to grow, it will require an increased commitment and level of participation from the membership.  This can take the form of attending classes, giving presentations, serving on the Board or as SIG chair, or assisting with whatever decisions we make to revitalize the club.  A lot of the club’s leadership have been in their positions for a long time and it’s been the same few people doing the work to keep the club functioning.  It is now time for new people to step up and inject new ideas and energy into this club.  Without the participation of new people, this club is likely to just fade away.  Let’s not let that happen.

Here’s hoping to see all of you at future meetings,

Walt Walters
